Description
Hand pieced and hand quilted, this wonderfully graphic Pineapple quilt is built from narrow strips of salvaged cotton arranged around bold red centers. Scrappy blues, pinks, blacks, whites and novelty prints meet vivid red piecing, while yellow-green diamond-shaped spaces give the entire quilt an unusually bright, playful character. A wide golden yellow border and backing complete the piece.
The varied fabrics and irregular piecing give it the unmistakable personality of a quilt made from a household scrap bag—where even the smallest remnants could be worked into something beautiful and useful.

The quilt reflects the resourcefulness of Depression-era quiltmaking, when fabric was rarely wasted and scraps from clothing, sewing projects and household textiles were routinely saved.
