Historical Period
Early 20th century, circa 1920s–1940s
About the Quilt
Unlike traditional block-based quilts, this piece embraces the spirit of the crazy quilt, with varied shapes and unconventional piecing arranged for visual energy rather than strict symmetry. Its bold central panel and mixed side sections give it a whimsical, almost abstract quality that reflects both creativity and thrift.
Fabric & Construction
Pieced from an assortment of printed cottons, shirtings, plaids, and likely feedsack-era fabrics, the quilt reflects the resourceful use of both dress and household textiles. It is entirely hand pieced and hand quilted, with broad, curving quilting lines across the backing that add beautiful texture and movement.
Condition
The quilt shows wear consistent with age and use, including scattered staining, areas of thinning, edge wear, and a notable area of batting loss and fabric damage to the backing. These signs of age reflect its long life as a well-loved utility quilt and add to its authenticity and character.

*Disclaimer: Please remember that you’re purchasing a quilt that is decades—sometimes well over a century—old. Signs of age are part of their story. I do my best to photograph and describe any condition issues honestly.
You may find:
• Fading or discoloration
• Small stains or age spots
• Light wear, thinning, or fabric repairs
• Minor imperfections consistent with age and use
Each of these are little piece of American history—stitched by hand from cotton, feed sacks, flour sacks, clothing, and treasured scraps by women who made beauty from what they had. Every quilt carries a story, and it’s been an honor to help preserve these heirlooms for the next generation.
